Less than a week after the arrest of Brian Mwenda,who was accused of masquerading as a lawyer in Kenya without a licence, the Law Society of Kenya has announced the arrest of another person who has stolen the identity of a lawyer to practice law.
The President of Law Society of Kenya, Eric Theuri,in a statement seen by Courtroom Mail said.
“This afternoon together with the Nairobi Branch Rapid Response Team we caused the arrest of Sharon Adunya Atieno who had impersonated one of our Advocates and was using the alias Sharon Atieno Adunya Obade.
She stole the identity of Sharon Atieno Obade and had forged a national identity bearing the alias and fake practicing certificate to aid her illegal enterprise.
She is currently held at Capitol Police Station pending investigations and arraignment in Court.
We thank our members for alerting us of this incident. We will not relent in this fight. The operation to rid masquerades will be intensive, thorough and unrelenting.”
