History was made today at the finals of Lawyers Table Tennis Open(Mfon Usoro cup) as Yetunde Martin toppled the 7 year reign of Titilayo Osagie.
The spectators erupted in jubilation as Yetunde won Titilayo in a hotly contested finals.
Lizzy Amadi a top seed from Ibadan branch of the NBA was believed to be the one to knock out the defending champion but she ended up in the fourth position in her third place match with Sisan Ezeikpe.
For the first time in the history of the game,the female game got more attention than the male category. Yetunde Martins had met Titlayo in the finals four times before the 2017 tournament.
On the male category, Tunji Abdulhameed regained his championship which he lost to Kabir Adeleke in 2016.
The defending champion,Kabir Adeleke ended up in the third place.
