RE- SCREENING/INTERVIEW OF CANDIDATES **
ELECTORAL COMMITTEE DECIDES
Dear Learned seniors/Colleagues,
The screening of Aspirants into the various posts of the NBA, Ado-Ekiti Branch was successfully conducted and concluded on Thursday, 4th day of June, 2020.
The Committee complied with the directive from the NBA National Secretariat to observe an electoral process in strict compliance with the provisions of the NBA CONSTITUTION, with special reference to the provisions of Section 15 of the Nigerian Bar Association Uniform Bye-law for Branches. This is also coupled with agitation and demands of Ado-Ekiti Branch members on the need to implement the NBA CONSTITUTION without any waiver nor special consideration of any sort.
THE EXERCISE
The Committee examined and investigated all the information supplied in the forms submitted by Aspirants. Having conducted due research into all details of Aspirants and their Sponsors, the committee arrived at the following and final decisions.
CRITERIA EMPLOYED
- Financial status of Aspirant with his sponsors ( payments of BPF for 2018-2020 and evidence of payments into the Branch Account as at when due(on or before March 31st of each year) for 2018- 2020 as detailed in the statements of Account).
- Required Number of Attendance to qualify
- Year of Call in determining whether the Aspirant or Sponsors are qualified to contest for the designated post.
- Membership of Sponsors and Aspirants.
- All the provisions of Section 15 of the NBA Uniform Bye-law for Branches. RESULTS
Flowing from the above, the committee after due process and outcomes of the screening exercise hereby announce and declare that All the Aspirants ran foul and contravened the provision(s)of Section 15 of the NBA Uniform Bye-law for Branches.
As something cannot be built on Nothing, none of the Aspirants is qualified to contest as a result of this exercise.
CONCLUSION
With this development, we hereby call for Fresh Nominations from members into the existing various posts of the Association.
N.B In the same vein, previous Aspirants can also apply afresh if they so desire.

NOMINATION FORMS ( COSTS)
- Chairman, Vice-Cairman, Secretary and NEC REP — N30,000
- Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Social Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Welfare Secretary, Legal Adviser, Provost — N15,000
- Assistant Secretary — N10, 000 N.B Previous Aspirants will be given the privilege of paying half of the cost for form, while New Aspirants will pay the full cost.
Collection of forms will commence on MONDAY, 8TH DAY of JUNE, 2020 @ the Bar Centre and ends on FRIDAY, 12TH day of JUNE, 2020.
ALL FORMS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED IN SEALED ENVELOPES TO THE COMMITTEE SECRETARY.
SCREENING OF CANDIDATES WILL BE ON TUESDAY,15TH DAY OF JUNE, 2020.
