Two police officers were on Saturday night arrested after they reportedly attempted to rob a driver of cab hailing app, Uber.

Constable Shukri Galgalo of Quarry Police Post and Abdikadir Daiwo of Muthaiga Police Station allegedly requested the cab then turned against the driver.

According to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two officers forced the driver to sit at the back seat and commandeered the vehicle towards Eastleigh instead of Pangani as they had requested on the app.

The vehicle, however, crashed and stalled at Kilimanjaro roundabout, forcing them to attempt to escape on foot before they were quickly arrested.

The officers are presently in lawful custody awaiting arraignment on Monday.
