Training for the biggest sporting event among Lawyers begins tomorrow 9th of July 2016 all over the country and will hold in Lagos at the National Stadium,Lagos and Legend suites ,Ajah
Lawyers’ Table Tennis Open (MFON USORO CUP) founded in 2009 is one of the sporting events making up Lawyers Games. The idea was inspired by a vision to promote the culture of leisure and healthy living among lawyers and a mission to use sports to create a platform upon which the vision would be realized. The Naming right is held by a well-known Nigerian Lawyer Mfon Usoro who till date sponsors the annual event which is the biggest sporting event among lawyers in Nigeria. On the 17th of October 2009, the first official final of the tournament was held at the National Stadium in Lagos. The title of the tournament is named after her “LAWYERS’ TABLE TENNIS OPEN, MFON USORO CUP”. Till date, she is the single highest sponsor of the event.
The event conforms to international standards. This is made possible by the synergy which has been formed between the organizers of the event and the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation. The event is officiated by the umpires of Nigerian Table Tennis Federation and world class coaches are also integrated into the Tournament. Today, lawyers in practice and the corporate world across Nigeria participate in this yearly tournament which comes with plenty of prizes which in the past seven years have cut across, cash, books and return tickets to IBA Conferences.
The event is properly documented beginning from the first game that was ever played.The Lawyers Table Tennis Open Brand has influenced and inspired a lot of people today. The statistics and ranking are preserved believing that many years to come, the big story of a great game among noble people will inspire generations to come
The 2016 finals will hold on the 3rd of September at the facility of Nigerian Table Tennis Federation, National Stadium, Lagos by 10am.Entry fee is N2500.00 (Two thousand five hundred naira) for male Lawyers and free for female lawyers.
Training commences at the Hall of Nigerian Table Tennis Federation, National Stadium, Lagos and Legend suites, Thomas estate, Ajah on the 9th of July. It shall continue every Saturday from 8am until 20th of August when preliminaries will begin. A special coaching session will hold on the 6th and 13th of August for Lawyers who are new or who seek to improve their skills in Table Tennis.
